Another day for all the family at the Homecoming Festival. In the morning you can decide whether you would like to take the family cycling or walking. The family cycle starts at 11am at the GAA Pitch and the walk begins at the Bothy in Letterkeen Forest. There will be direction signs from Keenagh Crossroads. The walk is a short 5k walk through the Nephin Beg range in the company of Derek Davidson from Walk West Ireland. Derek is an expert on the area and the highlight of the walk will be to visit caves used in the War Of Independence to hide from the British Forces. In the afternoon, one of the festival’s longest running events takes place, The Teddy Bear’s Picnic and this year it not just for Teddy Bears, all families are invited to bring along their picnics and join in the fun at the playground on Mullinmore Road. Murray’s Fun Fair will be open right through the afternoon and evening starting at the earlier time of 2pm. Later in the night you can choose the entertainment that suits you as Gorilla Radio take to the stage in O’Malley’s and in Cawley’s Rakestreet there is the 2nd Annual James Hogan Memorial Social Dance with music by Thomas Maguire & Fhiona Ennis plus a BBQ and Jiving Competition. Christy’s Bar have a Poker Classic, Vincent Burke provides the music in The Thatch and Maughan’s Bar have the ever popular Grace Kelly so lots to keep you entertained on the festival Saturday night.
